Box Office Round-Up ~ 4/13/26
As expected, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie held strong atop the box office in its second weekend, albeit with a sizable 48% drop to $68 million. That said, it didn’t have the Easter weekend or spring break to capitalize on, yet it still has cleared $300 million in the U.S. after less than two weeks in theaters. It’s very likely to stay in the number-one spot for a third weekend.
Project Hail Mary and The Drama stayed in second and third place with a respective $24.1 million and $8.7 million. The Ryan Gosling outer space adventure has grossed $256 million domestically, making it the second-highest grossing movie of 2026 so far behind Mario, Luigi and co.’s outer space adventure.
In between The Drama and fifth place’s Hoppers (which grossed $4.1 million in its sixth weekend) was new release romcom You, Me & Tuscany, starring Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid) and Regé-Jean Page (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), which opened to a solid $7.7 million. It’s a decent opening for a romantic comedy, a genre that hasn’t had the easiest time finding a big screen audience in recent years.
This biggest new release of this coming weekend is Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, the latest classic horror monster revisit from Blumhouse Productions, directed (unsurprisingly) by Evil Dead Rise’s Lee Cronin. The film’s marketing and title clearly aim to set this mummy movie apart from its lineage, which includes the 1932 original, the infamous 2017 Dark Universe kickoff, the 1999 remake, and of course the upcoming sequel to the remake, currently in pre-production and set for a 2028 release.
